Berryfields Berries

Harrow's Berryfields has been owned and operated for over 40 years by Pat and Diana Harrow. The fertile soils at the Gardiners Road property provide optimal conditions for growing berries. Fresh or frozen Harrows berries are available in dessert and jam packs throughout the year. Harrows berryshop at Berryfields is open from November through to April, otherwise berries can be purchased at Sweethearts Restaurant.

Harrow's Berries Health benefits
Harrows Berryfields berries are high in vitamin C, fibre and naturally low in sodium, cholesterol and fat. They are a good source of iron, potassium, folate and other important minerals. Berry colours are due to natural plant pigments. Many are polyphenols such as the flavonoids, anthocyanins, and tannins localized mainly in berry skins and seeds. Berry pigments are usually antioxidants and thus have oxygen radical absorbance capacity ("ORAC") that is high among plant foods. These properties help fight cancers, lower blood cholesterol levels and the corresponding risk of heart disease. Berries also facilitate the body's ability to slow the aging process. Together with good nutrient content, ORAC distinguishes several berries within a new category of functional foods called "superfoods".
