Enjoy the tradition of ‘taking tea’ at Sweethearts

One of Sweethearts’ signature offerings is the Victorian High Tea. This 3 tiered cake stand of tea sandwiches and dainty cakes was born out of Diana Harrow’s childhood memories of visits to the ‘Beaths Department Store’ in Colombo Street where her grandmother would treat her to a High Tea during the school holidays. Our Victorian High Tea has become a Christchurch High Tea favourite. We are proud to have re-introduced the High Tea tradition to Christchurch and New Zealand almost 20 years ago.

Served daily between 9.00 AM and 12.00noon for morning tea and 3.00 PM - 5.00 PM for afternoon tea

VICTORIAN HIGH TEA - $27.50 (per person)
A traditional high tea service presented on a three-tiered cake stand consisting of a delightful selection of afternoon tea treats set on white linen.

Beginning with the bottom tier, are three tea sandwiches per person with a selection of club sandwiches with leg ham, cucumber, tomato, and raspberry cream cheese, egg salad & chive pinwheels, and smoked salmon on rye bread. The second layer of the cakestand offers guests two sweet treats from a selection of ‘petits fours’. The top tier contains the most lavish offering, a chocolate fudge teacake with cream & berries. The Victorian High Tea includes your choice of Twinings tea or Illy gourmet coffee. Please note: modifications to the Victorian High Tea can be made but advance notice is required. The Victorian High Tea can be pre-ordered.

DEVONSHIRE TEA - $17.50
Two traditional English scones served with fine preserves made from berries grown on our farm, freshly whipped cream, and berries. Includes your choice of Twinings tea or Illy gourmet coffee.

SWEETHEARTS PETITS FOURS - $15.50
A selection of four dainty afternoon tea cakes with berries.

QUEENS TEA SANDWICHES - $15.90
A delightful array of five tea sandwiches. Smoked salmon on rye bread, egg salad & chive pinwheels and club sandwiches with seeded mustard & ham, tomato, cucumber & raspberry cheese.

KINGS SAVOURY SELECTION - $17.50
An assortment of five gourmet pies and quiches created in the Sweethearts’ kitchen served with a spicy apricot sauce. For those with a hearty appetite!

SWEETHEARTS 'TASTING PLATE' - $18.90

The perfect afternoon tea if you would like to sample all of the items from our afternoon tea menu. The tasting plate offers guests a tea sandwich, homemade savoury quiche, petit four (1), a scone with jam & cream, berry garnish, and your choice of Twinings tea or Illy gourmet coffee. This option is well suited for larger groups dining at Sweethearts.

Creative fresh food takes time to prepare, so if you have a limited schedule, please advise your Sweethearts host.
